Hello! My name is Maribeth Gutshall.
As a little girl I can still remember my first trip to Disney. It was 1984, and as we exited our plane, we were greeted by Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. My heart skipped a beat as I came face to face with the characters I’d been dreaming about since my mother first introduced them to me many years before.
I fondly remember staying at the Contemporary Resort, and from that moment I was fascinated by the monorail. I could not believe that something like that existed, and perhaps it was during that trip that I subconsciously fell in love with engineering. Years later, I applied for an internship with Disney, and much to my surprise – I spent the summer before my senior year of college – in 1997, working in Workforce Planning and Analysis near Downtown Disney (as it was called back then). It was a magical time.
After college my life took a dramatic turn, and I becoming a personal fitness trainer. But, through the years I have remained a completely devoted fan of Disney. As an adult, I have traveled to Walt Disney World more times than I can count, and have stayed at some of the finest resorts there, including the Polynesian, Bay Lake Towers, The Beach Club, and The Animal Kingdom Lodge. All of the resorts offer something unique, while making you feel at home.
As someone who enjoys being active on vacation, I love the variety of having four different theme parks to choose from, and actually accomplished my goal of visiting all four parks in one day! I’ve also taken part of several of the running races at Disney – The Disney 10 Miler, the Haunted 5K, and Marathon weekend, just to name a few.
My favorite Disney movie is Beauty and The Beast. The reason I love this movie is because of the character Belle. She is always dreaming of going to the great wide somewhere. Ever since my first trip to Disney in 1984, and then my experience of working for Disney – I have wanted to be part of the magic. As a Disney Kingdom Planner, I want to help make the magic happen – I want to help others enjoy the Disney I know – the places, the people, and the experiences - that has brought me joy since I stepped off that plane so many years ago.
I currently live in Central Pennsylvania with my spouse and two dogs. We are Walt Disney World annual season pass holders – and we don’t live in Florida! We visit Disney every year – sometimes twice or three times, if we can make it. When we start planning our vacations, we always want to have just one more trip…Just one more adventure.
Let me help you and your family discover the “Great Wide Somewhere” and all the magic that Disney has to offer!
